I'm actually thinking about signing up for the hockeybigbang . Which, is really not something that I should do, since writing challenges always just make me choke up and panic and I end up unable to do anything, even in the cases where I already had a working draft to start with..

It's just I've been doodling with an idea for a Koivu/Granlund fic, which seems like it could end up being reasonably long and sort of perfect for a big bang. And also, the more people being exposed to the pairing the better. (Seriously, they're pretty much the Finnish version of Staal/Skinner pairing, so you know, age difference angst with some added moodiness. Also long-distance feels.. What more could you want?)

So maybe, for once, I could turn this into a motivation to write the god damn thing for real.

While on the subject of things that are crazy. Someone please tell me that trying to get someone to lend me a car for tomorrow so I could ride 200 kilometer just to watch an exhibition hockey game is not worth it. Especially when I really don't have the money for it. Not even to see Rinne in the grease.

It's good thing the sign ups don't close until in like a month. So yeah, I'm also planning on starting to work on it now and sign up right before the deadline, if it starts looking like I have something worth publishing.
I'll gladly take the blame for anything that results in more fic. ;)

In all honestly, I really should remember to specify who I'm talking about, when using a last name of someone who has well known siblings/ share a last name for other reasons with someone. It's not like I haven't had to go through the "oh, wrong Bäcks" song and dance often enough. (Also, there's not many things I hate as much as people misspelling Niklas/Nicklas. It's hard enough sometime to tell which one is in question, never mind if you take away the one thing that differs in their name!)

Yeah, no, my list of things I could/should be working on has gotten so out of hand anyway, that I just go by what ever I feel like writing at what ever given time. :D
Besides, it's nice to be doing something relatively short and easy, for a change, instead of something that needs hours of hours of research before I'd even know where to begin. Sorry to rob you of a change to be passive-aggressive though. ;D

The first hockey fic I ever read was a het fic, starring Mats Sundin and I have never back-spaced that quickly in my life.
Ugh. Just the idea of this makes me want to have my head bleached. I can see how that would be a somewhat traumatic experience. Although with me, it's more to do with Sundin being pretty much the worst Swede ever. :D

It really does seem like the best plan, doesn't it? It's really nice of them to give us such a long time to sign up, since that limits the chances of failing horribly in public drastically. Now, if only I could come up with a plot that isn't awful...

Also, there's not many things I hate as much as people misspelling Niklas/Nicklas.
That really is the worst. Sure, sometimes it's obvious from context who it is you're speaking about, but if you're going to talk about a player, maybe double-checking so that you spell his name right should be a priority? Especially when he has almost the exact same name as another guy. And it's not like either Nik. or Nick. are particularly obscure players.

More seriously though, while I love the guy (obviously), I just really don't see the sex-appeal. At all. There's a lot of other players to write porn about. Some of whom are actually good looking. Why would anyone want to write about Sundin?

You'd really think so. I mean personally I check the spelling of players damn near compulsively because I'm convinced that on the day that I don't do it, I'll misspell something that should be easy (like Cosby instead of Crosby) and then everyone will think that I'm actually ten years and really ignorant. Which, what with having dyslexia and all, is somewhat stressful.
So I actually do kind of understand how people might end up misspelling something like that one crucial c, it's just super frustrating.


Did I say short and easy? I'm now at 900 or so words on the Koivu/Granlund primer, and I'm not even close to the part about why anyone should ship these two together. I keep trying to compress, but then I'm constantly going "but this is prudent information! It explains everything about their nature and actions! I can't just not mention it!" Even when that might not be the case. Why is editing stuff out so haaard!
