Huh, I'd never heard of Sunrise Avenue before, but they seem kind of awesome. And pretty much perfect for Carts/Richie.
And yeah, that AU idea is EVIL! I mean, I kind of get choked up just reading the idea. (Goddamn hockey feelings!) I guess it's because it's what should have happened, if reality hadn't decided to go "Fuck it!" and act like this was all a movie about True Love. I think sometime in the future it might be an interesting story to read, but right now I'd just be a crying wreck if I read it. (Of course, I'd still read it. I'd just be very, very upset about it ^_^)
As for the Brodeur vs. Selänne issue; I'm 99% certain that if they retired on the same day, North American media (and therefor pretty much all of the internet) would forget that Selänne even existed, based on the simple fact that Brodeur is Canadian. I mean, I'd like to be wrong about this, but I just can't see a scenario where a bunch of journalists, who probably couldn't find Finland on a map, would spend any significant amount of time talking about a Finnish player when there was a Canadian guy to talk about. (Or am I just being overly bitter? That's also a possibility.)
